Frank J Ciaffone was born in Brooklyn, New York. He signed with the Dodgers before entering military service and was assigned to Newport News of the Piedmont League although he didn't get to play before joining the Marines in 1944.

 

Private First-Class Frank Ciaffone saw action in the Pacific and was killed in action on Iwo Jima on March 3, 1945. He was 19 years old.
